Building protection
The buildings are threatened by heavy rains, flooding and strong storms that bring hail and strong winds.
Basements and ground floors can be protected against flooding. They can be reinforced, and water can be diverted to reservoirs. Electrical installations should be placed higher, and entrances raised. Backflow preventers prevent sewage from backing up through pipes. Roofs and skylights can be reinforced to protect against wind and hail.
